This is a simple tutorial on how to program your Mazda 2 immobilizer key. You can use this tutorial if you want to duplicate your key or have your key added or replaced. This tutorial will work for the following Mazda2 models: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

When to Program the immobilizer?

  • When you want to make a Duplicate
  • When key is added or replace

How to Program the Immobilizer?

Obtain all keys to be programmed.

STEP 1

Using programmed key 1, proceed as follows:

  • Switch ignition ON.
  • Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds.
  • Immobilizer warning lamp extinguishes.
  • Within 4 seconds:
  • Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  • Remove key 1.

STEP 2

With programmed key 2 proceed as follows:

  • Switch ignition ON.
  • Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds.
  • Immobilizer warning lamp extinguishes.
  • Within 4 seconds:
  • Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  • Remove key 2.

STEP 3

Using new key proceed as follows:

  • Switch ignition ON.
  • Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds.
  • Immobilizer warning lamp extinguishes.
  • Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  • Remove key.

To program other keys:

  • Repeat programming procedure for remaining keys.

Confirm programming has been successful by starting vehicle using each key. Wait for more than 5 seconds between each confirmation.

NOTE: A maximum of 8 keys can be programmed. Keys can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.
