DO IT Your Self Mazda3 Immobilizer Programming 2003-2009

This is a simple instruction on how to program the immobilizer on your Mazda3 from the years 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008 to 2009 . This is a programming guide without using the OBD Scan Tool. Please follow my tutorial below.

System operation

System arms when turning ignition from ON to OFF position.
Immobilizer warning lamp located in instrument panel, flashes every 2 seconds.

System disarms when turning ignition ON.
Immobilizer warning lamp located in instrument panel, remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds then
extinguishes.

Program Your key if :

• Emergency key added or replaced.
• System malfunction.

Mazda 3 Programming Immobilizer with Keyless Entry

NOTE: Two or more programmed keys necessary. (Obtain all keys to be programmed)

STEP 1

Using programmed key 1, proceed as follows:

• Start engine.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds then extinguishes.
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Using programmed key 1, switch ignition ON.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds then extinguishes.
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Within 4 seconds:
• Remove key 1.

STEP 2

With programmed key 2 proceed as follows:

• Start engine.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds then extinguishes.
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Remove key 2.

STEP 3

Using new key proceed as follows:

• Switch ignition ON.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds then extinguishes.
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Within 4 seconds:
• Remove key 3.

Repeat above procedure for remaining keys replacing key 3 with next key to be programmed. Keys can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.

Mazda3 Programming Immobilizer without Keyless Entry

NOTE: Two or more programmed keys necessary. Obtain all keys to be programmed.

STEP 1

Using programmed key 1, proceed as follows:

• Switch ignition ON.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds.
• Immobilizer warning lamp extinguishes.
• Within 4 seconds:
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Remove key 1.

STEP 2

With programmed key 2 proceed as follows:

• Switch ignition ON.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds.
• Immobilizer warning lamp extinguishes.
• Within 4 seconds:
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Remove key 2.

STEP 3

Using new key proceed as follows:

• Switch ignition ON.
• Ensure immobilizer warning lamp remains illuminated for approximately 3 seconds.
• Immobilizer warning lamp extinguishes.
• Within 4 seconds:
• Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
• Remove key 3.

Repeat above procedure for remaining keys replacing key 3 with next key to be programmed. Keys can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.

NOTE: Confirm programming has been successful by starting vehicle using each key. Wait for more than 5 seconds
between each confirmation.
NOTE: A maximum of 8 keys can be programmed.
