HOW TO RESET THE ENGINE OIL LIFE OF CHEVROLET TRAVERSE FROM YEAR 2009 TO 2020
Chevy Traverse 2009-2017 Oil Life Reset using the DIC Button.
STEP 1
- Turn the ignition On. Don’t start the Chevrolet Traverse Car Engine.
STEP 2
- Press the VEHICLE INFORMATION BUTTON until OIL LIFE REMAINING displays.
STEP 3
- While the OIL LIFE is displayed. Press and hold the SET/RESET BUTTON until “100%” is displayed. Three chimes sound and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message goes off.
STEP 4
- Turn ignition Off. Oil reset is complete.
Chevy Traverse 2009-2017 Oil Life Reset using the TRIP ODOMETER RESET STEM Button.
STEP 1
- Turn the ignition to ON/RUN, with the engine off. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to access this display.
STEP 2
- Press the trip odometer reset stem until OIL LIFE REMAINING displays.
STEP 3
- While the remaining OIL LIFE is displayed. Press and hold the trip odometer reset stem until OIL LIFE REMAINING shows “100%.” Three chimes sound and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message goes off.
STEP 4
- Turn the key to LOCK/OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the engine oil life system has not been reset. Repeat the procedure.

CHEVROLET TRAVERSE 2018-2020
STEP 1:
- Turn the Ignition ON. Don’t start the Engine of Chevrolet Traverse.
STEP 2:
- Using the DIC BUTTON. Navigate the REMAINING OIL LIFE.
STEP 3:
- While the OIL LIFE is displayed. Hold and Press the CHECK MARK BUTTON. Until the OIL LIFE RESET to 100%.
STEP 4:
- Turn ignition Off. Oil reset is now complete.
The oil life system can also be reset as follows:
1. Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
2. Fully press the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
3. Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC. If the display shows 100%, the system is reset.
If the vehicle has a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message and it comes back on when the vehicle is started and/or the OIL LIFE REMAINING is near 0%, the engine oil life system has not been reset. Repeat the procedure.

When to Change Engine Oil
This vehicle has a computer system that indicates when to change the engine oil and filter. This is based on a combination of factors which include engine revolutions, engine temperature, and miles driven. Based on driving conditions, the mileage at which an oil change is indicated can vary considerably. For the oil life system to work properly, the system must be reset every time the oil is changed.
CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON
This message displays when the engine oil needs to be changed. When you change the engine oil, be sure to reset the Oil Life System.
The Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change. It will notreset itself. Do not reset the Oil Life display accidentally at any time other than when the oil has just been changed. It cannot be reset accurately until the next oil change. To reset the engine oil life system,follow the instruction above.
