CHEVROLET COBALT CHANGE OIL SOON RESET

On this tutorial we have 3 EASY method  to reset the CHANGE OIL SOON message on Chevrolet Cobalt, Please follow.

METHOD 1

STEP 1

  • Turn the IGNITION ON, Don’t start the ENGINE.

STEP 2

  • Immediately PRESS and DEPRESS the GAS PEDAL 3 or 4 times.

STEP 3

  • After the STEP 2, The CHANGE OIL SOON  message should be gone or the REMAINING OIL LIFE will RESET to 100%. If fail repeat the procedure or proceed to METHOD 2.

 

METHOD 2

On this tutorial we need to use the DIC BUTTON, located at the left side of the STEERING WHEEL.

COBALT DIC BUTTON

STEP 1

  • Turn the IGNITION ON, Don’t start the ENGINE.

STEP 2

  • Continue PRESS the INFO BUTTON, until the REMAINING OIL LIFE.

STEP 3

  • While the REMAINING OIL LIFE is DISPLAYED. PRESS and DEPRESS the GAS PEDAL 3 TIMES, then the REMAINING OIL LIFE will RESET to 100%. OIL RESEt is now complete. If this tutorial did not work please repeat or proceed to METHOD 3.
  • If Pressing the GAS PEDAL did not work. PRESS the RESET BUTTON until the OIL LIFE RESET to 100%.

 

METHOD 3

On this tutorial we need to USE the DIC BUTTON. see image on METHOD 2.

STEP 1

  • Turn the ignition to ON/RUN, with the engine off.

STEP 2

  • Press the INFO BUTTON and RESET BUTTON together for 3 seconds then release .
  • After Press the INFO BUTTON and RESET BUTTON together, the OIL LIFE RESET message will appear.
  • if the OIL LIFE RESET did not appear, USE the INFO BUTTON to display the REMAINING OIL LIFE.

STEP 3

  • While the OIL LIFE RESET/REMAININNG OIL LIFE message appear, PRESS and HOLD the RESET BUTTON, until the ACKNOWLEDGED message will display.This will tell you the system has been reset.

STEP 4

  • Turn Ignition OFF. OIL reset is now complete.

Engine Oil Life System

When to Change Engine Oil

This vehicle has a computer system that indicates when to change the engine oil and filter. This is based on a combination of factors which include engine revolutions, engine temperature, and miles driven. Based on driving conditions, the mileage at which an oil change is indicated can vary considerably. For the oil life system to work properly, the system must be reset every time the oil is changed.

CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON

This message displays when the engine oil needs to be changed. When you change the engine oil, be sure to reset the Oil Life System.

The Oil Life display must be reset after each oil change. It will notreset itself. Do not reset the Oil Life display accidentally at any time other than when the oil has just been changed. It cannot be reset accurately until the next oil change. To reset the engine oil life system,follow the instruction above.
