Ford Kuga 2013-2019  High Security Remote Head Keys Programming tutorial

  1. Confirm First Programmed Key – Step 1

    INSERT the first previously programmed transponder key into the ignition.

  2. Confirm First Programmed Key – Step 2

    TURN the ignition from OFF to ON. KEEP the ignition ON for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

  3. Confirm First Programmed Key – Step 3

    TURN the ignition OFF and REMOVE the first key from the ignition.

  4. Confirm Second Programmed Key – Step 1

    After 3 seconds, but within 10 seconds of turning the ignition OFF, INSERT the second previously programmed key into the ignition.

  5. Confirm Second Programmed Key – Step 2

    TURN the ignition from OFF to ON. KEEP the ignition ON for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

  6. Confirm Second Programmed Key – Step 3

    TURN the ignition OFF and REMOVE the second key from the ignition.

  7. Program New Key – Step 1

    After 3 seconds but within 10 seconds of turning the ignition OFF and removing the second key, INSERT the NEW un-programmed key into the ignition.

  8. Program New Key – Step 2

    TURN the ignition from OFF to ON. KEEP the ignition ON for at least 6 seconds.

  9. Program New Key – Step 3

    REMOVE the NEW key from the ignition.

    If the key was successfully programmed, it will operate the remote entry system and start the vehicle’s engine.

    If the key was NOT successfully programmed, it will NOT work the remote entry system or start the vehicle’s engine and the message center will display “NO KEY DETECTED”. Wait 20 seconds and REPEAT the process from Step 1.

  10. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.

Important:

  • Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
    • Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
    • You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
  • You must have 2 working transponder chip keys in order to program a new transponder without the assistance of a professional.
  • The key to be programming must be cut prior to beginning this programming procedure.
  • To program any additional new keys, wait 20 seconds and REPEAT this procedure.

Note: If your vehicle cannot enter programming mode, then you cannot program any remote.  This indicates either no keyless entry installed on the vehicle or a defective keyless entry receiver module.

  1. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    Have two programmed PEPS smart keys inside the vehicle prior to beginning this procedure.

    PLACE the NEW un-programmed smart key in the pocket inside the center console utility compartment.

  2. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    PRESS the driver or passenger power door UNLOCK button 3 times.

  3. Enter Programming Mode – Step 3

    PRESS and RELEASE the brake pedal 1 time.

  4. Enter Programming Mode – Step 4

    PRESS the driver or passenger power door LOCK button 3 times.

  5. Enter Programming Mode – Step 5

    PRESS and RELEASE the brake pedal 1 time. The INDICATOR on the START/STOP button should begin to rapidly flash, indicating Programming Mode has been entered.

  6. Program New PEPS Smart Key Remote

    Within 1 minute, PRESS the START/STOP button on the vehicle. A message will be displayed on the message center indicating that the NEW smart key was programmed successfully.

  7. Exit Programming Mode

    REMOVE the smart key from the utility compartment pocket and PRESS the UNLOCK or LOCK button on the NEW programmed smart key to EXIT programming mode.

  8. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.
