  1. Prepare Vehicle – Step 1

    REMOVE key from Ignition.<>

  2. Prepare Vehicle – Step 2

    CLOSE ALL doors.<>

  3. Prepare Vehicle – Step 3

    OPEN Driver’s side door and LEAVE OPEN.<>

  4. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    REPEAT the following steps 3 times:<>

    a. INSERT key into Ignition and TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>

    b. REMOVE key from Ignition.<>

  5. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    CLOSE and OPEN Driver’s door 3 times.<>

  6. Enter Programming Mode – Step 3

    Vehicle will cycle door locks LOCK/UNLOCK signaling that the vehicle has successfully entered Programming Mode.<>

  7. Program Remote

    PRESS ANY button on the first remote to be programmed 2 times. Vehicle will cycle door locks LOCK/UNLOCK signaling that the remote has been successfully programmed.<>

  8. Program Additional Remotes

    REPEAT Step 7 for ALL remotes you want to use with your vehicle.<>

  9. Exit Programming Mode

    PRESS ANY button AGAIN on the last remote that was programmed to EXIT Programming Mode.<>

  10. Finalize Programming

    WAIT 15 seconds for the vehicle to cycle locks LOCK/UNLOCK indicating finalization of programming procedure.<>

  11. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.<>

Programming Notes:<>

  • Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
    • Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
    • You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
  • Obtain ALL remote transmitters for this vehicle.
  • You may program up to 3 remotes to your vehicle.

Mazda 6 2009-2013 Key Fob Programming (Remote Programming)

  1. Prepare Vehicle – Step 1

    REMOVE key from Ignition.<>

  2. Prepare Vehicle – Step 2

    CLOSE ALL doors.<>

  3. Prepare Vehicle – Step 3

    OPEN Driver’s side door and LEAVE OPEN.<>

  4. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    WITHIN 24 seconds, PERFORM the following steps:<>

    a. INSERT key into Ignition.<>

    b. TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>

    c. TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>

    d. TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>

    e. CLOSE Driver’s side door and OPEN.<>

    f. CLOSE Driver’s side door and OPEN.<>

    g. CLOSE Driver’s side door and OPEN.<>

  5. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    Vehicle will cycle door locks LOCK/UNLOCK signaling that the vehicle has successfully entered Programming Mode.<>

  6. Program Remote – Step 1

    PRESS the UNLOCK button on the first remote to be programmed 2 times. Vehicle will cycle door locks LOCK/UNLOCK signaling that the remote has been successfully programmed.<>

  7. Program Additional Remotes

    REPEAT Step 6 for ALL remotes you want to use with your vehicle. If you only have 1 remote, REPEAT Step 7 2 additional times. If you have 2 remotes, REPEAT Step 7 with the 2nd remote 2 times.<>

  8. Finalize & Exit Programming Mode

    CLOSE and OPEN Driver’s side door 1 time to finalize the programming procedure and EXIT Programming Mode. Door locks will cycle LOCK/UNLOCK to confirm.<>

  9. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.<>

Mazda 6 2009-2013 Key Fob Programming (Key Programming)

  1. Enter Programming Mode – Step 1

    INSERT first programmed transponder key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position. LEAVE key in Ignition in ON position for approximately 1 second UNTIL the RED security light on the dashboard instrument cluster goes OFF, then REMOVE key from Ignition.<>

  2. Enter Programming Mode – Step 2

    WITHIN 5 seconds, INSERT second programmed transponder key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position. The RED key symbol light will ILLUMINATE and go OFF.<>

  3. Program Remote

    WITHIN 10 seconds, INSERT the new key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position. The RED security light will ILLUMINATE and go OFF.<>

  4. Exit Programming Mode

    REMOVE key from Ignition to EXIT Programming Mode.<>

  5. Test Remotes

    TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.<>

Programming Notes:<>

  • Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
    • Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
    • You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
  • Obtain ALL remote transmitters for this vehicle.
  • You MAY program up to 3 remotes to your vehicle.
  • Flip key(s) MUST be cut in order to program it to your vehicle.
  • You MUST have 2 previously programmed transponder keys in order to program a new key portion of your flip key.
