Comprehensive Fuse and Bulb Replacement Guide for MG RX5
Fuses protect the electrical appliances of the vehicle by preventing the circuits from being damaged due to a short circuit or overload. A blown fuse indicates that the circuit it protects has failed and stopped working.
Identifying and Handling Faulty Fuses
- If you suspect a fuse is faulty, remove it from the fuse box and inspect it to see if the wire inside the fuse is blown.
- It’s recommended to have spare fuses in the vehicle, available from a local authorized repairer.
Important:
- Never attempt to repair a blown fuse. Always replace it with one of the same rating. Using the wrong fuse can cause electrical system damage or fire.
- If a replaced fuse fails immediately, contact a local authorized repairer as soon as possible.
Fuse Box Locations
The MG RX5 is equipped with three fuse boxes:
- Battery Fuse Box (on the battery)
- Front Compartment Fuse Box (front left of the front compartment)
- Passenger Compartment Fuse Box (under the left dashboard panel cover)
Checking or Replacing a Fuse
Battery Fuse Box Procedure
- Turn off the start switch and all electrical appliances, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

Front Compartment Fuse Box Procedure
- Turn off the start switch and all electrical appliances, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Press the lock catch to open the upper cover of the front compartment fuse box.
- Hold the fuse head with the fuse extraction tool, pull and remove the fuse, and check whether the fuse is blown.
