Ford Tourneo RKE Keyfob Programming
A simple tutorial that will guide you on how to program the RKE(Remote keyless entry) Keyfob on your Ford Tourneo from the years 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. Please follow the instructions below for your reference.
Ford TOURNEO 1993-1999 RKE Keyfob Programming
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 1
INSERT key into ignition and TURN from OFF to RUN/ACC.
OFF is the position where you can remove your key, RUN/ACC is the position just shy of starting your vehicle.
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 2
LOCATE the Programming Connector located at the base of the Steering Wheel Column.
The Programming Connector consists of 2 wires and a plastic plug terminator with 2 pins.
The pins will NOT be connected to anything.
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 3
JUMP the 2 pins in the Programming Connector using a suitable metal jumping wire (example – paperclip).
- Program Remote
PRESS any button on the remote to be programmed.
Door locks will cycle Lock/Unlock to confirm successful programming of the remote.
REPEAT this step IMMEDIATELY for any other remotes to be programmed to your vehicle.
- Exit Programming Mode
TURN ignition to OFF to exit Programming Mode.
The vehicle locks will cycle Lock/Unlock to indicate successful completion of programming.
- Test Remotes
Test all remotes. Programming is now complete.
Important:
- Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
- Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
- You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
- Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. This procedure will erase all previously programmed remotes. You must program all existing and new remotes that you wish to use on the vehicle at this time.
- You may clear your keyless entry system memory by entering programming mode as shown in the steps above.
Note: If your vehicle cannot enter programming mode, then you cannot program any remote. This indicates either no keyless entry installed on the vehicle or a defective keyless entry receiver module.
Ford TOURNEO 2000-2003 RKE Keyfob Programming
- Prepare Vehicle
CLOSE and UNLOCK vehicle using power door locks.
- Enter Vehicle Programming Mode
INSERT key into Ignition and TURN from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm Programming Mode.
- Program Remote
Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote fob. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
(Repeat immediately for any additional remotes to be programmed.)
- Exit Programming Mode
Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
- Test Remotes
Test all remotes. Programming is now complete.
Important:

Ford TOURNEO2010-2013 RKE Keyfob Programming
FOR SOME KEY
Remote Locking functions of the key fob.
• A maximum of eight keys can be programmed to your vehicle.
• You must have two previously programmed keys (keys that
already operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed
key(s) readily accessible.
If the key was not successfully programmed, it will not start your
vehicle’s engine and the theft indicator light will flash on and off, or stay
on for more than three seconds.To program additional new unprogrammed key(s), repeat this procedure
from Step 1 for each additional key.
Ford TOURNEO 2014-2020 RKE Keyfob Programming
- Confirm First Programmed Key – Step 1
INSERT the first previously programmed transponder key into the ignition.
- Confirm First Programmed Key – Step 2
TURN the ignition from OFF to ON. KEEP the ignition ON for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Confirm First Programmed Key – Step 3
TURN the ignition OFF and REMOVE the first key from the ignition.
- Confirm Second Programmed Key – Step 1
After 3 seconds, but within 10 seconds of turning the ignition OFF, INSERT the second previously programmed key into the ignition.
- Confirm Second Programmed Key – Step 2
TURN the ignition from OFF to ON. KEEP the ignition ON for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Confirm Second Programmed Key – Step 3
TURN the ignition OFF and REMOVE the second key from the ignition.
- Program New Key – Step 1
After 3 seconds but within 10 seconds of turning the ignition OFF and removing the second key, INSERT the NEW un-programmed key into the ignition.
- Program New Key – Step 2
TURN the ignition from OFF to ON. KEEP the ignition ON for at least 6 seconds.
- Program New Key – Step 3
REMOVE the NEW key from the ignition.
If the key was successfully programmed, it will operate the remote entry system and start the vehicle’s engine.
If the key was NOT successfully programmed, it will NOT work the remote entry system or start the vehicle’s engine and the message center will display “NO KEY DETECTED”. Wait 20 seconds and REPEAT the process from Step 1.
- Test Remotes
TEST all remotes. Programming is complete.
Important:
- Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
- Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
- You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
- You must have 2 working transponder chip keys in order to program a new transponder without the assistance of a professional.
- The key to be programming must be cut prior to beginning this programming procedure.
- To program any additional new keys, wait 20 seconds and REPEAT this procedure.
Note: If your vehicle cannot enter programming mode, then you cannot program any remote. This indicates either no keyless entry installed on the vehicle or a defective keyless entry receiver module.
