Mazda 5 RKE Key fob Programming
A useful tutorial on how to program the RKE key fob on Mazda 5 from the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 to 2015. Please follow the instructions below for your reference.<>

Mazda 5 – Remote Programming
- Prepare Vehicle – Step 1
REMOVE key from Ignition.<>
- Prepare Vehicle – Step 2
CLOSE ALL doors.<>
- Prepare Vehicle – Step 3
OPEN Driver’s side door and LEAVE OPEN.<>
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 1
WITHIN 24 seconds, PERFORM the following steps:<>
a. INSERT key into Ignition.<>
b. TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>
c. TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>
d. TURN to the ON position (just shy of cranking) and back to the OFF position.<>
e. CLOSE Driver’s side door and OPEN.<>
f. CLOSE Driver’s side door and OPEN.<>
g. CLOSE Driver’s side door and OPEN.
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 2
Vehicle will cycle door locks LOCK/UNLOCK signaling that the vehicle has successfully entered Programming Mode.<>
- Program Remote – Step 1
PRESS the UNLOCK button on the first remote to be programmed 2 times. Vehicle will cycle door locks LOCK/UNLOCK signaling that the remote has been successfully programmed.<>
- Program Additional Remotes
REPEAT Step 6 for ALL remotes you want to use with your vehicle. If you only have 1 remote, REPEAT Step 7 2 additional times. If you have 2 remotes, REPEAT Step 7 with the 2nd remote 2 times.<>
- Finalize & Exit Programming Mode
CLOSE and OPEN Driver’s side door 1 time to finalize the programming procedure and EXIT Programming Mode. Door locks will cycle LOCK/UNLOCK to confirm.<>
- Test Remotes
TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.<>
Mazda 5 – Key Programming
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 1
INSERT first programmed transponder key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position. LEAVE key in Ignition in ON position for approximately 1 second UNTIL the RED security light on the dashboard instrument cluster goes OFF, then REMOVE key from Ignition.<>
- Enter Programming Mode – Step 2
WITHIN 5 seconds, INSERT second programmed transponder key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position. The RED key symbol light will ILLUMINATE and go OFF.<>
- Program Remote
WITHIN 10 seconds, INSERT the new key into the Ignition and TURN to the ON position. The RED security light will ILLUMINATE and go OFF.<>
- Exit Programming Mode
REMOVE key from Ignition to EXIT Programming Mode.<>
- Test Remotes
TEST all remotes. Programming is now complete.<>
Programming Notes:<>
- Verify the following prior to following these instructions:
- Your vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, and
- You have a key fob remote that is compatible with your vehicle.
- Obtain ALL remote transmitters for this vehicle.
- You MAY program up to 3 remotes to your vehicle.
- Flip key(s) MUST be cut in order to program it to your vehicle.
- You MUST have 2 previously programmed transponder keys in order to program a new key portion of your flip key.
