7 STEPS of Toyota Corolla Tire Pressure Initialization
Here’s the 7 simple steps guide on how to do the Tire pressure initialization for the Toyota Corolla. This tutorial will work from the 2018-2023 Toyota Corolla year model. Some people call this tutorial as TPMS reset. Please follow the instructions below.
Initialization procedure
● Make sure to carry out initialization after adjusting the tire inflation pressure. Also, make sure the tires are cold before carrying out initialization or tire inflation pressure adjustment.
● If you have accidentally turned the engine switch off during initialization, it is not necessary to press the reset switch again as initialization will restart automatically when the engine switch to ON for the next time.
● If initialization has accidentally been started when it is not necessary, adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified level when the tires are cold, and then perform the initialization procedure again.
The tire pressure warning system must be initialized in the following circumstances:
✔️ When rotating front and rear tires which have different tire inflation pressures.
✔️ When changing the tire size.
✔️ When the tire inflation pressure changes, such as when changing traveling speed or load weight.
✔️ When changing between two registered wheel sets. When the tire pressure warning system is initialized, the current tire inflation pressure is set as the benchmark pressure.
How to Initialize the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
STEP 1
- Park the vehicle in a safe place and turn the engine switch off. Initialization cannot be performed while the vehicle is moving.
STEP 2
- Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified cold tire inflation pressure level. Make sure to adjust the tire pressure to the specified cold tire inflation pressure level. The tire pressure warning system will operate based on this pressure level. (see details below)
STEP 3
- Turn the engine switch to ON.
STEP 4
- Press ◄ or ► of the meter control switch to select SETTINGS.
STEP 5
- Press ▲ or ▼ to select “Vehicle Settings” and then press and hold the OK button.
STEP 6
- Press ▲ or ▼ to select “TPWS” and then press the OK button .
STEP 7
- Press ▲ or ▼ to select “Set Pressure”. Then press and hold the OK button until the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times.
When initialization of the tire pressure warning system has failed
Initialization can be completed in a few minutes. However, in the following cases, the settings have not been recorded and the system will not operate properly. If repeated attempts to record tire inflation pressure settings are unsuccessful, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
● When attempting to start initialization, the tire pressure warning light does not blink 3 times.
● After driving for a certain period of time since the initialization has been completed, the warning light comes on after blinking for 1 minute.
