Honda Odyssey Remote Key KeyFob Programming

Tutorial on how to program a Keyfob remote keyless entry RKE for a Honda Odyssey. Compilation of Keyfob programming for Honda Odyssey.

How to program 1996-1998 Honda Odyssey key fob (Method 1):

  1.  Open the drivers door.
  2.  Push the drivers power door lock switch to the unlock position and hold it. ( Continue to hold the switch during this procedure.)
  3.  Insert the key into the ignition, then remove it. Repeat this 4 more times within 10 seconds. ( You must complete steps 3 and 4 within 10 seconds or the system will exit the programming mode.
  4.  Insert the key into the ignition. After you insert the key, make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm that the system is in the programming mode.
  5.  Press the LOCK and UNLOCK button on the remote. All power door locks ( except the drivers door ) should cycle to confirm that the system accepted the remote.
  6.  To program a second remote, press the LOCK and UNLOCK button within 10 seconds of programming the first remote. ( The system will only accept two remotes.
  7.  Release the master power door lock switch to exit the programming mode.
  8.  Test remotes.

RKE programming 1996-1998 Honda Odyssey key fob (Method 2):

Programming Notes:

Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. This procedure will erase all previously programmed remotes. You must program all existing and new remotes that you wish to use on the vehicle at this time.

Procedure #1 – Factory Installed Keyless Entry Systems (Most Common)

Step-by-Step How To Programming Instructions:

  1. OPEN Driver’s door.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the UNLOCK switch on the Driver’s door and continue to HOLD until instructed to release.
  3. Within 10 seconds, INSERT the key into the ignition and REMOVE it five (5) times.
  4. INSERT the key a sixth (6) time and leave it in the Ignition. The vehicle will respond by cycling the locks indicating entry into Programming Mode.
  5. PRESS the LOCK OR UNLOCK Button on the remote. The vehicle will respond by cycling the locks indicating successful programming of the remote.
  6. REPEAT Step 5 within 10 seconds for each additional remote to be programmed.
  7. RELEASE the UNLOCK Button on the Driver’s door to exit Programming Mode.
  8. Test all remotes. Programming is now complete.

Keyfob Programming 1999-2008 Honda Odyssey  (Method 1):

  1.  Turn ignition switch to ON (II)
  2.  Within 4 seconds press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on one of the remotes. Make sure remote is aimed at the receiver near the glove box.
  3.  Within 4 seconds turn ignition switch to LOCK (0)
  4.  Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 two more times using the same keyless remote used in step 2
  5.  Within 4 seconds turn the ignition switch to ON (II)
  6.  Within 4 seconds press the LOCK or UNLOCK button the same remote. Make sure the power door locks cycle to confirm you are in programming mode. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button again.
  7.  Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each remote you want to program. Make sure door locks cycle after you push each remote button to confirm system has accepted the remote.
  8.  Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode.
  9.  Test remote(s)

  3. PERFORM each of the next three (3) steps in order, then repeat all three (3) steps two (2) more times for a total of three (3) times each.
  4. TURN the Ignition to the ON position, marked “II” on the Ignition.
  5. PRESS the LOCK button on the remote for approximately 1 second. (Say “Mississippi”)
  6. TURN the Ignition to the OFF position, marked “I” on the Ignition. (REPEAT Steps 4-6 three (3) times)
  7. TURN the Ignition switch to the ON position, marked “II” on the Ignition.
  8. PRESS the LOCK button on the same remote. The door locks should cycle indicating the vehicle has ENTERED Programming Mode.
  9. PRESS the LOCK button again on the same remote. The door locks should cycle again indicating the vehicle has successfully PROGRAMMED that remote.
  10. For programming additional remotes to your vehicle, REPEAT Step 9 with each additional remote one after another. Step 9 must be completed within ten (10) seconds for each additional remote. You may program up to three (3) remotes to your vehicle.
  11. TURN the ignition to OFF.
  12. Test all remotes. Programming is now complete.
  13. After successful programming, if your remote has a TRUNK RELEASE Button — you will need to hold that button down for 5-10 seconds for that function to begin operation.

Procedure #2 – Dealer Installed Keyless Entry Systems

Step-by-Step How To Programming Instructions:

  1. TURN Ignition to the ON (II) position. (ON is the position just shy of starting the vehicle without cranking the engine.)
  2. PRESS and HOLD the Valet/Disarm Button located between the AM/FM and CD/TAPE Buttons. The vehicle will respond by cycling the door locks, indicating the vehicle is now in Programming Mode. (Continue to hold the Valet/Disarm Button until instructed to release.)
  3. Within five (5) seconds, PRESS the LOCK or UNLOCK Button on the remote. The vehicle will respond by cycling the door locks, indicating successful programming of that remote.
  4. Within ten (10) seconds, REPEAT Step 3 to program any additional remotes.
  5. RELEASE the Valet/Disarm Button to EXIT Programming Mode.
  6. Test all remotes. Programming is now complete.

Honda Odyssey 2005-2010 Keyfob Programming LX models only

Honda Odyssey LX keyfob programming for LX models only from the year 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 to 2010.

1. Put the Key on the Second Position.

2. Within 4 seconds: Switch ignition On.

3. Within 4 seconds: Press the LOCK button on the KEYFOB.

4. Repeat procedure above twice.

5. Within 4 seconds: Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of first remote transmitter. System should now lock and unlock vehicle to indicate remote programming mode activated.

6. Within 10 seconds: Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of first remote transmitter, allowing doors to lock and unlock once. Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of each remaining remote transmitter to be programmed, allowing doors to lock and unlock once as each remote transmitter is programmed.

7. Switch ignition OFF.

key fob programming 2009-2011 Honda Odyssey  (Method 1):

Have all remotes for the vehicle on hand. Make sure all the doors and rear hatch/trunk are closed during programming.

Only need to use 1 remote to get into program mode but all remotes must be programmed during the same session. Each step must be completed within 5 seconds.

  1.  Sit in the car with all doors/trunk tightly closed
  2.  Turn the key to the ON position, marked by “II” on the ignition bezel so the dash lights come on, then within 5 seconds press the “Lock” button on the remote for 1 second or so and release the button.
  3.  Turn the key to the OFF position, marked by “I” on the ignition bezel – dash lights go off.
  4.  Repeat steps 2 & 3 three more times (A total of 4 times)  each step must be done within 5 seconds of the previous step.
  5.  Upon the 4th turning of the key to “ON”, press the lock button on one remote, the locks will make a cycling sound (clunk), locks will NOT lock or unlock at this point, they will just make a noise. The system is now in programming mode. Do not turn key off.
  6.  Within 5 seconds of entering programming mode and within 5 seconds of each other, press the lock button ON EACH remote you are programming, for a second or so and release. This step needs to be completed within 10 seconds. Each time a remote button is pushed, the locks should cycle. Up to 3 remotes can be programmed.
  7.  Turn ignition completely off and remove the key. Step out of car and close door. The remotes should be programmed and should work. If you have a trunk/hatch release, the button for this feature needs to be held for a few seconds before the trunk/hatch will “pop”.

key fob programming 2009-2011 Honda Odyssey  (Method 2):

Programming Notes:

Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. This procedure will erase all previously programmed remotes. You must program all existing and new remotes that you wish to use on the vehicle at this time.

These instructions will only program a keyless entry remote. If you have the Honda remote/key combo, these instructions will only program the remote portion of the fob. You will still need to get the transponder key programmed to start your vehicle at an Automotive Locksmith.

Step-by-Step How To Programming Instructions:

Only program key when added or replaced or on system malfunction

  • Obtain all key transmitters. NOTE: A maximum of 6 key transmitters can be programmed
  • Switch ignition ON. NOTE: Point key transmitter at door function control module (located in driver’s door)
  • Within 4 seconds: Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of first key transmitter. Within 4 seconds: Switch ignition ON
  • Repeat procedure above twice
  • Within 4 seconds: Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of first key transmitter
  • System should now lock and unlock vehicle to indicate programming mode activated
  • Within 10 seconds: Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of first key transmitter, allowing doors to lock and unlock once. Press LOCK button or UNLOCK button of each remaining key transmitter to be programmed, allowing doors to lock and unlock once as each key transmitter is programmed
  • Switch ignition OFF. Remove key and check operation of all programmed key transmitters

keyfob Programming  2012-2016 Honda Odyssey  (Method 2):
